People resist the dentist office for many reasons. Perhaps they had a bad experience as a child. Some people fear anesthesia, the noises, smells and tastes associated with dental care. Other types of patients who may benefit from Oral Sedation Dentistry are people who require a large amount of dental work or cosmetic work. They have busy schedules that prevent multiple visits. Oral sedation will allow longer appointments with fewer visits! IS SEDATION SAFE FOR ME? My staff and I are prepared to maintain the highest level of safety for our patients. I will review your medical history completely to determine if you are a candidate. HOW IS ORAL SEDATION PERFORMED? A safe low dose tablet (Halcion), is given under the tongue. This will enable you to be completely relaxed and become very drowsy. Patient’s breathe for themselves and can respond to directives. Because of the amnesic properties of the medication, there is little or no memory of your dental treatment. During the procedure my assistant will be with you at all times monitoring your vital signs, ensuring your comfort and safety. WILL I FEEL ANY DISCOMFORT? No. You will feel nothing. HOW LONG WILL I BE SEDATED? Depending on the procedure, anywhere between two to four hours. For your safety, we do require that you have a family member or friend drive you home. “Imagine being able to smile again with confidence and chew without pain. If you’ve been putting off years of dental work, Sedation Dentistry can change your life. Once you’ve experienced Sedation dentistry in our office, you’ll never be apprehensive about dentistry again." If you have any questions, please call our office at 281 893-9175. -Dr. Eddie C.
